Equity Bridge

Equity Bridge is a nonprofit organization committed to fostering a thriving, equitable, and connected Chicago region. Our mission is to remove the financial barriers to equip individuals from marginalized communities with the latest trauma-informed knowledge and interventions.

Our commitment to diversity and inclusivity is reflected in every facet of our operations. From our diverse Board of Directors to our inclusive training programs, we strive to create an environment that celebrates and respects all identities.

At Equity Bridge, we are more than just a nonprofit organization; we are a bridge leading into a brighter, more equitable future for all.

Our History

Equity Bridge was established following several years of Trauma-Informed Narrative Group Trainings conducted at the Art of Living Counseling Center. These trainings inspired a vision to create a safe environment where individuals could access training tailored to their specific communities.

Our mission is to serve the BIPOC and LGBTQ communities by ensuring that at least half of the available spaces in our trainings are reserved for marginalized groups. This approach has proven successful, and we are deeply committed to expanding our services to further this mission.

Since 2022, we have significantly increased our training capacity, growing from 8-10 participants to 25-35 participants per session. Our commitment to inclusivity and accessibility remains at the forefront of our work at Equity Bridge.

Where Your Money Goes

Direct Services

A significant portion of your donations supports our direct therapeutic services. These services are crucial in helping individuals within marginalized communities to heal and grow. Your contributions help us remove cost barriers for these services, making professional trauma-informed counseling accessible to those who would otherwise be unable to afford it.

Training

Your contributions help empowerment through training. This program equips individuals from marginalized communities with the latest trauma-informed information and interventions. Your donations provide full or partial scholarships to these individuals, ensuring they have equal access to these resources. By removing financial barriers, we empower these individuals to bring about transformative change within their own communities.

Operational Costs

Finally your donations support the operational costs of delivering these services. This includes everything from administrative expenses to the costs of developing and maintaining our training programs. Every dollar you donate helps us continue our work, serving as a bridge to a brighter, more equitable future for all.

Who We Support

BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities often face systemic barriers and disparities in access to resources, including mental health services. They are disproportionately affected by trauma due to factors such as racism, discrimination, and social inequality.

Our mission is to break down these barriers and provide equal access to trauma-informed information, interventions, and therapeutic services. By intentionally supporting these communities, we are not only fostering individual healing and empowerment, but also contributing to a more equitable and inclusive society.
